Year 5 Odyssey
Numeracy
This half term, in maths, we have been focusing on adding and subtracting numbers with more than four digits. We have become super maths detectives working through multi-step problems and successfully finding missing numbers. We are going to continue using these fabulous detective skills to find common multiples and factors next term.
Literacy
We have been working on writing a narrative text this half-term, based upon ‘The Odyssey’. We have thoroughly enjoyed describing the giant, one-eyed Cyclops and Odysseus’s cunning plan to escape. We can’t wait to continue working upon our vocabulary choices further next term.

Science
We have had another fascinating science filled half-term. We have been looking at the impact of a range of forces, including friction, air and water resistance to name a few. We particularly enjoyed investigating the effects of friction in our rocket balloon experiment. We talked about how we could make sure that it was a fair test and became science inspired Perseverant Pugs to ensure experiment success.
Music
This term, in music, we have loved finding the pulse to a range of songs within the rock genre. We have found the pulse by tapping, dancing and playing the glockenspiels.
