What’s the time!
In Numeracy, the children have been solving problems using time. We have focused on developing our use and knowledge of mathematical language when explaining the duration of time. We used our ‘Perseverant Pug’ Super Learning Power to help us when reading time for half past, quarter past, quarter to and to the nearest minute. The children have enjoyed solving time problems which required them to convert between hours, minutes and seconds.

Super Powers!
In Literacy, the children have been very excited to find out the ending of our class book, which is called ‘Super Powers’ by Alex Cliff. We have focused on developing our use of speech within our own stories to show the reader how a character is feeling. The children particularly enjoyed acting out different speech verbs.
Superb sewing!
This half term, we have worked hard to tackle every challenge that has come our way. One activity that required a great deal of perseverance was creating our picnic bags. The children explored a range of sewing techniques to ensure their fabric was secure and carefully practised both backstitch and running stitch using different materials. They then used these new skills to produce their own beautiful animal-print designs, and the finished bags look fantastic.
Hole in one!
The children have had a fantastic time in PE this term. Mrs Lewis has been teaching the class the skills of golf, and the children have thoroughly enjoyed the sessions. We have some very talented golfers in Class 3, who have demonstrated excellent accuracy, balance and strength throughout their lessons.
What a treat!
Year 3 enjoyed an exciting visit to Washington Wetland Centre, where they took part in an immersive storytelling adventure based on Ava’s Story. Ava, a bird transformed partly into a human, needed the children’s help to return home. The children explored the woods and surrounding areas, searching for clues along the way to solve the mystery. Our guide was incredibly impressed with the children’s excellent knowledge of tree identification, and everyone was thrilled to watch the otters being fed. It was a fantastic day of learning, teamwork and outdoor exploration, which the children thoroughly enjoyed.
