The Story Continues!
What an amazing half term we have had in Class One. We have developed in so many ways; gained new skills; discovered new things!
We have continued our exploration of traditional tales through the book ‘Dear Fairy Godmother’ by Michael Rosen. We wrote our own letters to the Fairy Godmother and had lots of fun getting into character for this task.
We have also linked traditional tales to our DT this half term. We used ‘Goldilocks’ as our inspiration and had a fun, engaging and rewarding time creating a chair for Baby Bear! We learned how to make things stable, how to join materials and how to choose materials.
In English, we have also had a special visitor: Sunny the meerkat! He joined us from the Kalahari Desert in Africa and continued his journey as documented in Meerkat Mail by Emily Gravett. Sunny is on a quest to find somewhere perfect to live, so he came to England as part of this quest. Sunny spent the day in Class One and, continuing our work on letter writing, we have written postcards back home with a recount of his day here.
We have learned about lots of animals in Science, recapping some of our previous learning from the Autumn term and progressing into learning even more about humans. We have learned about our organs and their job, and how to keep our bodies healthy. We have also begun to brush our teeth daily, meaning our oral hygiene will be fantastic!
In Geography, we have been learning about our local area and where we are. We have learned about maps and how to use them; what an aerial view is; features of an area and how they help us to know where we are; where we are in our school, our town, our country and the world!
Miss Nicol has been doing some fabulous work on Judaism in RE and we can talk lots about the Jewish religion. She has also taught us some amazing dances, including one linked to the life cycle of a plant. We were amazing at dancing to the rhythm of the music!
Our skills in Maths and Reading (Phonics) are amazing and our teachers are all so proud of the work we put in every day into these subjects. We are so proud of our learning and how far we have come so far in Class One. Mrs Gallon and Miss Nicol think we are amazing!
