Singing into Spring!

Marvellous Multiplications

In maths, we have been focusing on multiplication and have worked really hard in our number sessions to achieve 25 golden focus facts so far this year! We only have 11 to go and then we will achieve GOLD! Well done to Rital, Aaron, Eryn, Charlie and Naya for achieving their times table award badges this term! Super work Class 5! We can also multiply 2-digit, 3-digit and 4-digit numbers by a 2-digit number and have been fantastic perseverant pugs by using a variation of mathematical methods to double check our calculations. We have thoroughly enjoyed using our times table knowledge to support our calculations and have loved playing our focus fact game on Friday mornings. We have been practicing a song to help us remember our 7 times table focus facts. We can’t wait to perform this to a larger audience soon! It’s incredibly catchy!

Delightful Diaries

In writing this term, we have been writing diary entries based upon the perspective of Jeff from our class book, ‘There’s a boy in the girls’ bathroom.’ We have used show not tell to really explore our vocabulary choices. Danait and Ella’s use of parenthesis to provide more information to the reader has been wonderful to read! We have also been focusing on our use of adverbs of possibility to indicate the likelihood of an event happening in our diary entries. We are currently in the process of writing a diary entry based on our trip to 'Into University', and we can’t wait to share these with other classes in school! Keep up the fabulous work Class 5!

Super Science

This term in science, we have been investigating the properties of a range of materials and how we could use our knowledge to design the building of a house. We have loved using scientific vocabulary such as transparent, and can tell you that absorbent means that an object is able to soak up liquid easily.

Miss Dinsley is very proud of Class 5 and their hard work, resilience and determination this half-term. We are looking forward to learning more about materials and using our fantastic times table recall to support our mathematic calculations. Enjoy the half-term break and maybe some sunshine! See you next term!
