Jack and the Beanstalk
This half term, we have started our new topic, castles, knights and dragons with the story “Jack and the Beanstalk”. We explored the story, retold the story using props, used instruments to represent the mood in different parts of the story and even built our very own castle out of soft play blocks. We loved sitting on the throne with our crowns in the castle we built!
Class 10 Sum 1 24-25
The other stories we have been focusing on had more of a self care focus. We looked at “I don’t want to wash my hands” and learnt about good hygiene and hand washing. We looked at “Cinderella” and practised putting our shoes on ourselves. Finally, we looked at “I want my potty” and learned how to sign and recognise the widget symbol for “toilet”. Hopefully, we will start using these signs and symbols in order to become more independent with toileting!
In maths, we have been using the water tray to enhance our learning. We have been swimming fish, splashing speckled frogs and dunking ducks while singing some nursery rhymes to develop our knowledge of counting.
This half term we started a new program “Squiggle While You Wiggle” to help us get our fingers and bodies moving in preparation for mark making. We have been singing finger movement songs and body movement songs. We have enjoyed doing playdough discos and we have loved scribbling to music!
