Fun, Forests and Fires

Class 2 have been working really hard and had a lot of fun at the same time. We loved going to the forest looking for mini beasts and learning about them in science. We then looked at other animals in different habitats, sorting them into groups and thinking about what helps them to survive in their habitats.

Class 2 Aut 1 25-26

We’re enjoying great stories every day, writing our own versions of the Bog Baby and we know a lot more past tense words to use in them. We were very lucky to meet a new friend when David Crosby, a local author, came to visit us and talk about his pirate book. Wow!

Our maths work has been tricky and we have really had to concentrate with adding and subtracting larger numbers. To help us practise our skills, we’re trying out a new app called Dreambox maths to see if it can help us to remember more things while having fun.

Not only have we worked hard in those parts of school, we’ve also been learning ball skills in PE with Miss Nicol and some of us went to an athletics event at Gateshead Stadium too!

Finally, our history skills have developed very well since September. We know so much about the Great Fire of London, including who was the king back then, how the fire changed London and what Samuel Pepys buried to keep it safe from the fire!
