Doctor, Doctor
This half term, we continued the theme of Superheroes; we are looking at real life Superheroes. Before the holidays, we became fire fighters and we have now transformed our home corner/shop into a doctor’s surgery, complete with all of the equipment doctors and nurses need!
We have looked in real doctor’s bag and we had great fun trying out the blood pressure machine, stethoscope, thermometer and syringes. We all became doctors and put on our doctor’s coats, gloves, masks and aprons! We used real bandages and plasters to care for our teddies who had hurt themselves.
We used syringes to mix our own coloured medicine (food colouring and water), it was brilliant fun pretending to be a real doctor!
We made x-ray pictures of our own hands, and created skeleton pictures. We have learnt so many new words – patient, medicine, stethoscope, thermometer and we can even name the parts of our body as well as the different bones which make a skeleton.
Class 9 Aut 2 24
For anti-bullying day we made lovely friendship bracelets to give to each other, choosing the coloured beads which our friends love most!
For PSHE, we have been tooth-brushing Superheroes, and we brush our teeth every day in class! We sorted different food and drinks to show which are good or unhealthy for our teeth. One child lost his tooth so we all wrote letters to the tooth fairy and put them in an envelope for when we get our own wobbly tooth.
We have been listening to lots of different stories over the last two weeks. A favourite one was Stick Man by Julia Donaldson. We dressed up in waterproofs and wellies and explored our forest school.
We collected lots of sticks to use in our number work and then we made 2d shapes using the sticks, including rectangle, triangle and hexagon. We ordered the sticks in size and had great fun making our own Stick Family. In Maths, we have also been reinforcing number bonds to 5 and 10 using part whole models and sticks and leaves.
Its been an action packed half term and everyone in class 9 are true Superheroes!
All ARMS staff wish you a happy and joyful Christmas!
