Beamish & Billy Goats
The children in Class 1 have had a wonderful half term, full of excitement, joy and lots of sparkle!
Class 1 - Aut 2 25-26
We have been reading some wonderful books, including ‘Three Billy Goats Gruff’, ‘Which Nose for Witch?’, and ‘Snowball’. We have been learning about what makes a sentence, using verbs and nouns to help us to build ideas. We have been practising plurals, thinking about which words need -s and which need -es. The children are building their understanding of sentences through reading, speaking and writing.
In maths, we have been learning all about addition and subtraction, using the correct symbols and understanding number sentences.
We have learned about how life has changed for children in our History lessons, even having a visitor from Beamish Museum who came in to show us some exciting toys from the Victorian times.
In DT, we learned all about mechanisms, and made sliding pictures which we used for our wonderful Christmas cards!
Finally, we have spent a lot of time learning songs and practising our dancing for the Christmas show. We loved it and can’t wait to do some acting next year in year 2!
We hope you all have a wonderful 2 weeks and enjoy the festive cheer.
