Acute Camels
This half-term, class 5 have been working really hard, and we can’t wait to share our learning with you all.
Amazing Angles
This half-term in maths, we started to focus on the process of identifying a wide range of angles. We can tell you that a right-angle is 90°, a straight line is 180°, a three-quarter turn is 270° and a full turn is 360°. To use our knowledge further, we have been trying hard to use mathematical language within our class discussions when describing angles, including acute, obtuse and reflex. This has required us to work as perseverant pugs and really listen to our partners/classmates and provide support during conversations. James’s use of mathematical language to describe angles has been wonderful.
We have thoroughly enjoyed concentrating on our practical mathematical skills and using a protractor to measure a variety of angles. We really enjoyed walking into class and finding our tables covered in masking tape to represent a lot of angles! We our new skills to measure a range of angles created by the tape. This required us to work together as cooperative cats, working through the stages of this process. We can’t wait to continue learning about shape further next term!
What is a life cycle?
In writing, this half term, we have been writing a non-chronological report with a focus upon life cycles. We have used our knowledge of life cycles from our science lessons this half-term, providing factual information to the reader about a range of animal species. We have really focused on our use of paragraphs and the information presented within these to inform the reader this term. Alisha’s use of fronted adverbials helps to guide the reader and provides extra information regarding specific animal life cycles. Our class have focused on the use of a topic sentence to signpost the reader and specifically inform the reader about what a life cycle is first before going into any further detail. Cooper’s use of conjunctive adverbs to link to the following section has ensured a smooth transition for the reader between paragraphs.
Moving Migration
We have really enjoyed learning about migration and the history of this within the UK this half-term. We have become historical detectives and have used our communication skills to establish potential push and pull factors behind migration. Within class, we have discussed real life examples and have shared our experiences. This has been a wonderful process and has required us to be curious camels by asking each other questions about their own experiences.

Glittering Gold!
Well done Nabeelah and Keisha who have achieved their gold super learning power this half-term. Both have worked really hard to achieve this and should be very proud of their achievement. Super efforts!
Star Readers
We have continued to focus this half-term within our reading sessions and have achieved our class target for the term. We have loved engaging with this challenge and are looking forward to hitting our final class target of the year!
Amazing Athletics
We have loved taking part in athletics sessions this half-term, participating in a range of activities including javelin, hurdles and sprints. Athletics sessions have enabled us to work as cooperative cats and use our communication skills in sporting practice. Well done to Emily, Alfie, Alessia and Yahya for your resilience during these sessions. Keep being positive penguins!
Brilliant Bede Brain Buddies
Well done to everyone in Class 5 for listening and engaging with our brain buddies’ sessions. We received superb feedback as a class, amazing efforts from all!
What a wonderful half-term in the sunshine! Miss Dinsley and Miss Hopkins are really proud of the children and can’t wait to see the children achieving their goals in our final half-term as Class 5 after the break.
We hope you have a lovely break, see you next term!
